Weird problem with my maxima.

Ok so about a month and a half ago my car started jerking and stalling when i stopped cel came on and only 2 codes showed up maf and knock sensor so i replaced the knock sensor and maf check engine light is still on with a code of p0100 which is the maf and it still stalls/jerks. Car has 170k put a lot of new parts into this car including a full tune up still behaving weird. Now my ignition coils are going just replaced 3 and the other 3 are sure to go any day. I just need help with this stalling problem i have no idea what to do.

Check the connections at the MAF. Make sure they are clean and tight. You probably have a wire lose in the plug itself.

Also, some orgers reported that grounding the MAF to the chassis, solved their problem, search...Hope you get it fixed!

I had the same problem, the fix was replacing one of my coils and cleaning the MAF. Cleaning the MAF is what really did it, cleaning it and cleaning all connections and making sure you have a good connection. Hopefully that will be it and all the other coils wont all go out on me anytime soon.

I've seen this problem a few times, and basically it depends on your luck. You have to replace coils, whether it's just one or all of them depends on pure luck, and then clean MAF and all connections make sure they are 100% good. A few times I've seen the MAF itself need replacement which actually isn't a bad idea if your MAF is giving you any kind of problems anyway.

And finally, what someone else said - I've seen grounding help out as well.

Good luck with it dude, hope I've been of some help.

If it is aftermarket, return it and buy OEM.
Even used is better than new aftermarket.

My idea

I would "guess" that there is an air leak (crack) in the black rubber accordion hose between the MAF and the Air Filter box. It will idle smooth because the crack will be closed, but when you accelerate, the engine rocks backward, and the crack opens up, and the MAF gets a false reading, and the engine will stumble. Duct tape will fix it temporarily, and a new hose from the dealer will fix it for the next 10 years.

This is exactly what had caused mine.. Except mine was coming from the plastic "lip" that the accordian-like hose was supposed to connect to. Ghetto'd it for a while but the plastic parts continued to fall of until I was forced to replace. Bottom line - inspect air intake for any cracks

The soldered joints inside the MAF come loose, and intermittent stalling results. There is a writeup for fixing an OEM MAF.

The KS code was likely a red herring, caused by the MAF code. Most emissions codes will trigger a ghost code for KS.

This, correct?

Courtesyparts refers to it as the "air duct".

If you're wanting to go OEM I'd look on eBay or here in the classifieds. I'd bet you could even fab something up to replace the lip.

But what I'd recommend is to purchase an aluminum midpipe to replace the whole air duct itself - much less prone to breaking. You'll have to replace the two hoses as well.

If you are running the stock intake setup it's likely there's a leak somewhere, I had the same problem for months running different SRI and CAI setups, the problem never fully went away until I went back to stock Setup and (this may sound a little ridiculous but it worked) cut the clip from the three wires of the MAF and soldered them directly to it
