What are your thoughts on the price of this 97 maxi?
Im looking for a daily driver, I currently have a slammed p11 and don't want to drive it anymore to and from work. Anyways, my buddy has a 97 Maxima fully loaded he said hed sell me. Its got 133k orginal miles, auto, auto climate control, black leather w/heated seats, sunroof, new tires, ect.
The cons are a salvage title, needs a water pump and a half shaft (new axle comes with the car), and someone did a poor job of repainting it the purple maroon color it is, it also has a 95 from bumper cover on it so the fogs fit really bad. I believe its an se model.
Anyways, he wants $1500 for it. Is this a fair deal? Ive only had one other a32 and it was a 98 i30 I got for a thousand in way worse shape. The motor was bulletproof though. Any advice is appreciated. No pics atm, sorry if this is in the wrong section I haven't been on here forever.

water pump is pretty involved. Not hard just lengthy.
Axles are no biggie. Paint can get expensive quick. And you can order a new bumper for 50 bucks or so.
Honestly I wouldn't pay 1500 for it. Maybe around 550 if it was a manual . even less if its an automatic.
Final thoughts: If you are mechanically inclined and have money to fix the car, get it for a good price. If not just leave it. $1500 is enough to find a decent 4th gen

Op, the best thing to do is see what other Maximas are going for where you live, and base it off that. These really aren't hard cars to work on comparatively as long as you know what you're doing.
If you like it, I say go for it. And considering he's your buddy, he might give you a better deal on it. Lol.

And I would say 500 ONLY if you can do the work yourself.
If you can't do water pump yourself you are likely looking at 500-600 at a shop because it is labor intensive.
Frankly, I'd rather find a higher mileage one that is in good shape and has already had a bunch of stuff fixed. Don't let the mileage fool you. Because it is low mileage, it likely will need a bunch of stuff fixed that a higher mileage has already done.
For example, my 96 has 290k miles on it, is in great shape, and I could get maybe 1500 for it. Would be a steal at that price for whoever bought it. There are others out there.
