Did you ever weigh the 3rd gen rims?

Not without tires, no. They are still sitting in my backyard with tires.

Quote: Well this is a little saddening. Installed two R888 on some 3rd gen wheels, I weighed the R888 beforehand at 21lbs each. The wheels and tires weigh in at 38lbs each, which means these 3rd gen wheels weigh 17lbs

In addition to this I had the tires dismounted off of the other two 3rd gen wheels and they also weighed in at 17lbs each.

That stinks. I picked up 2 from the JY a while back and made good use of them. They seemed much lighter than my stock I30 wheels. I currently have a full set of Kosei K1's (15x7's) on the car. These rims weigh in at 13.25 lbs. each. I haven't weighed them with the 225/50/15's but I could put them on the scale if your interested in knowing the mounted weight. They might also be for sale soon if I decide to purchase a G37 I've been mulling over.

When I replaced my OEM 1998 I30t 16s with OEM 16s from a 2000 I30 (pictured in my sig), I was happily surprised to find that the newer rims were lighter. I didn't weigh them, but it was easily noticeable by lifting.

You never know when going from OEM to OEM.

Looks good, that's a low weight too. I recently put 2K SE rims on my GLE, so the weight went up! You 4th gen guys get wicked fuel economy, I'm coming in at 23.5mpg with light-driving (5th gen).

I'm starting to venture into the 4th gen side of this forum, I like what I see! 4th & 5th gens!

Oh holy ****, fuel economy took a suicide dive when I put on these new tires. I think I went from 23.5mpg to 15mpg, something went wrong somewhere else! Will report back when I finish this tank of gas off...

What is the offset of those wheels? I am definitely interested in the mounted weight, and pics of them on the car too, if you don't mind.

I took a scale to the jy today in hopes of finding some more millenia wheels because I sold my set before actually weighing the 3rd gen wheels. There were some 15x6.5 +45 Infiniti BBS wheels (I saw some on both a Q45 and I30) the 4 I weighed with tires came in around 34-35 lbs each.

15x7 with +38 offset or 5.00" backspace. The fitment looks perfect on the A32 (at least to me) I will snap some pics and pull one off and weigh it with the 225/50/15 on it. I will also be weighing a new set of 15x7 (4x100/114.3) that my wife and I drove over 2 hours to get for my ultra low mileage 95 Corolla.

My apologies for the delay... finally had the time and a warmer day today to pull the wheels and get some weights. I'll post up the pictures later tonight after work.

Weird how the Kosi weight 2.75 lbs less just rims, while both with tires makes A 1.6 difference.....those 225 tires weight A whole 1.5 more than 205s ? Those are 16 pound maxima 3rd gen rims.....someone wrote 17, which is wrong if its the one in pic above.

Yes, tires to vary that much. The set of 3rd gen wheels/tires I picked up weighed anywhere between 29 and 39lbs with tires.

Not only that we are only using bathroom scales to measure this stuff, which could easily have a fudge factor of a couple pounds since it is just that - a bathroom scale. I'll throw some weights on my scale and see how accurate it is.

I did some digging around for info on the tires on the 3rd gen wheels. Turns out the manufacturer's name is "House Brand" and the model is Widetrack SR (as stated on the sidewall) Couldn't find any more info other than they are no longer made....
Wish I could be helpful Leonard. Let me know if there is anything else you need. The 99 I30 is going to the JY on Thursday or Friday. That reminds me... I better pull off the 95 Aluminum front and rear bumper supports before it goes.

No worries, just wanted to see if your 3rd gen wheel also weighed in around 17lbs.

What happened to the I30? I'd be interested in purchasing those K1s if you no longer have a need for them. PM me if you'd like.

Also, how do you know my name? I'm having trouble placing yours.

The I30's frame and rockers are so rusted that I basically do not have rocker panels anymore. Core support is rusted through and the frame rail joints from just behind the firewall are separating from all the rust and hard burnouts from racing at the track. Not to mention the VLSD tranny is in need of a rebuild (The stall RPM is close to 4000 before the car even moves)

I haven't posted an add for the K1's as I'm not sure what a fair asking price would be. I know shipping them out your way could be pricey. I'll leave it up to you to PM me an offer on them. Otherwise i will keep them for my next 4th gen project.

As far as knowing your name...... I'm pretty sure I've read just about every post you have made in the last couple of years and your name has popped up many a times. Especially in your dyno threads... lol

I got my hands on another set of millenias since I foolishly sold my first set.

2 wheels were OEM finish, 2 are chromed unforunately. This time I was able to weigh just the wheels.
Millenia OEM finish: 12lbs
Millenia Chrome finish: 13lbs
FD RX7 OEM finish: 16.5lbs

I'll weigh the millenias with new tires sometime soon and update the thread.
