Personally I wouldn't do it if its your DD. it really does nothing for you except make your car look better so I wouldn't take the chance. Just wait till you get the money for em.

Yeah you can buy a new set for around $70 - $200 depends on what you want. Go look around at a salvage yard you might get lucky and finds some nice springs there

Classifieds always have lowering springs. CustomMaxima.com has some good deals, but I've never bought anything from there.

Civic status. That phrase alone should tell you what the general consensus about it is.

All cut springs will give you is a very bouncy ride. It's more unsafe than it is cool or functional.

Lowering kills CV joints anyway, so lets look at the

Cons;
trashed CVs
possibly broken springs
springs falling out of their pockes on full rebound
jarring ride
blown out stock struts
bump steer

Pros;
Looking "cool" like the honduh guys.

Don't do it. I would not lower a max, mainly because there is no adjustment, and not much aftermarket support to correct alignment issues.

That's what I was thinking too but it seems like the first piece of advice everybody says here is "slam that *****"

They should qualify that response by adding "BUT DO IT THE RIGHT WAY, Coilovers or proper lowering springs." But then the statement doesn't sound so cool.

If you can't afford springs, you definitely can't afford cv's and tires. Or an alignment. Or an oil change. Or brakes. Or a tank of gas. Just sell your car, get a bicycle and deck it out. Or.... leave the alone until you can afford mods+maintanance.

I'm sure there are a lot of other things you could be doing to your max then considering lowering. After all 14+ year old cars do need some maintenance. I have a black on black leather interior and I was really going to make it look good with professionally getting window tint installed. Then I saw my rad support is gone. so now what I am doing is screw the idea of making it look good and fix the safety hazard that has developed. Another thing I have learned is if it affects your safety, and you can't afford to do it right Don't do it at all. It's really not worth it man.

He was only asking a question. There is no need for your negative comment.

its good advice, maxima height is 4x4... no one ever advises cutting springs, in fact many people recommend coilovers right away

he's just giving you a reality checkall you really need to enjoy this car is straight pipe from cat back, an intake, 2" drop and wheels. maintenance will bite you in the *** later

its not negative, its reality. you should be really putting on coilovers but if no money there are springs if no springs there is no resort. and he could've searched to answer this question, threads galore

On other cars it may not be an issue if they have adequate suspension travel but on these cars it sucks even factory, cut the springs and it gets worse... a lot worse, like effin terrible.

Can you get around with an inch of suspension travel? Thats what it would be like.

Save money and get proper Struts and springs, or save a little more and get some Coilovers...

Ya, I just put on some H&R's I got on ebay for $200 shipped. I love them. Only a ~1.2" drop, but the ride is great and looks much better.

I'm not sure about all of this 'trashed cv joint' noise. I've had my GP lowered around 2" for ~35k miles now and my stock CV joints at 135k are in great shape still.

Regardless of whether he searched or not the question and opinions of others had already been answered and decided so there was no further requirement of ridicule. On another note it is somewhat of a good thing, because now there will be a more recent thread for people with the same question to inquire on.
