Clearing corners and taillights on 96 I30
First off lets just say I hate amber lenses on cars period. Now with that out of the way I need to know if its possible to clear the front corner lenses and rear outer taillights of the amber lenses in a 96 Infiniti I30. Please dont say buy cefiro headlights or 98-99 b/c I dont have the money for either. I have seen how you can clear out the tails on maximas but will it be the same process for me. I read somewhere that someone did this but there was no info on how. Any pictures, instructions or anything that might help are appreciated.
I did a search but no useful info was found.
Thanks,
T

You may have to figure this one out yourself. Take them off the car, see how far you can disassemble them. Look for screws that appear to hold the outer lense in place. Remove them and then play like a cheff and bake them for 15 - 20 min. @ 220 or so. See if they come apart. Chances are they will, all Max's come apart. Even the headlights come apart that way. However, you may or may not be able to take out the amber lense inside. I guess it's trial and error.
Good luck!

Heat them up with a heat gun or oven. Pry them apart and make new clear lenses to go in place of the orange ones.

Now the next problem is that the I30 has "Diamond" clears, not reflective, like the Maxima.
So I don't think a Flourescent light cover will work...just have to find some other material to use.
Any ideas, anyone?
I'll be doing this this weekend for ebmorgan, who has a White '96 I30.

I'm not saying they're diamond, I just mean stock the reverse light lens is MUCH clearer than on the Maxima, and a flourescent lighting cover won't work, unless you put one over the reverse lights to match.
I'm trying to figure out what material will work well myself.

1.Use a heat gun to soften the lense apart, take out the amber piece using the flat head screw driver, cut and replace the reflector with fluorecent light cover
2.Or, I can order you a JDM front Corner lights for I30 96-99
Rear Outter Tail-lense

In case anyone does a search at a later date:
The I30 taillight Mod is exactly like the '97-99 Maxima Taillight Mod in the HOW2 section of maximadriver.com.
EXCEPT:
When taking the lense apart (after it's out of the car):
Instead of screws on the back of the lens holding the plastic on, there are clips holding the lense on from the inside. You need to heat them up, so the glue will seperate (just like the Maxima), and then use a very small flathead screwdriver to push into the clip holes on the outside to push the clips in so the lense is no longer attached to the backing.
Then you pull it apart.
There is ONE screw on the right side...but that's it besides the clips.
Otherwise, exactly the same. Especially actually removing the assembly from the trunk...100% the same.
BTW, an oven for 11 minutes at 250 degrees with the lense facing down works perfectly....came apart like butta! No need to use a screwdriver to pry...just hands and oven mits.
In addition, the glue is a different kind of glue....seems to be more of it also.
ebmorgan's I30 now has clear tails!
Wahoo!
