Tuning up the maxipad first time in 3 years. What else can help performence? bad MPG

I got a MAP sensor code P1105(barswitchsolenold/circuit that I still haven't figured out yet and my reverse lights stopped working but I got a speed sensor code P0500 for that I would assume those two work hand and hand, surprising tho as my speedometer still works.

Other than cleaning my Stillen K&N, plugs, PCV valve, Fuel Filter, and replacing an 02 sensor what else can I do? I feel like shes been super sluggish as of late and its very annoying. I am also gonna do an oil change cause I am pretty late on that, which is abnormal for me too.

I doubt the MAP sensor would cause performance loss and I don't show o2 sensor codes anymore? It is strange but it was back in april when I had it and it was a p0138 voltage bank 1, sensor 2. I don't know if that is upstream or down. I have an LSS y pipe too.

93 octane hopefully or else it will be sluggish past the mid 3k range. If possible look at your timing on an obd2 scanner. Make sure the ks is torqued to spec. Also check your connections to the battery, sometimes a poor/corroded grounds can effect performance. Tire pressure should be checked, leaking or improperly filled tires effect mpg. In this turbo max I avg 24 mpg.

I have the big 3 done. I have of course always used 93 for the past 5 years... I currently have the resistor mod for my KS tho and I think the resistor went out, I got the mod from this very forum. I am gonna replace it soon cause that was the first time I ever got one. I don't plan on ever buying a ks again because I have gone through 3 of them already. Obv tire pressure is checked and I have a brand new. 3 month old battery in the front with new Stinger terminals not even a year old...

Anything else I can do on the tuneup tho? I will check the timing but I don't think the autozone one can do timing checks.

Use a bottle of seafoam as well. Helps with removing carbon build up in the engine.

They sell those bluetooth obd2 things for about $11 on ebay and it comes with pc software. Anyone who does work on their car should have one, you can clear codes at will (with your phone even). It can show you timing advance, fuel trims and o2 sensor voltages. You can see if the o2 voltages are within spec and if your timing scales at the proper rpms.

I don't have one but I'd imagine you'd only need bluetooth on your phone/computer to sync with the device plugged in to the vehicle.

also. I am having 2 other big issues.

When I am getting ready to stop at a light or a stop sign. I just hit the clutch and throw the car in N to get ready for the stop and my RPMs dip in the 300s but only when I am braking. Now, I am assuming that could be 1 of 5 things...

1. bad coils of course.
2. bad IACV
3. Vacuum is too low somewhere there for the brakes are taking more vacuum during the stop.
4. The Alt is getting more difficult to turn from the brake lights? lol?
5.Or faulty maf sensor, but I just replaced it 2 years ago.

2nd issue.

Massive stutter due or hesitation when I hit the gas hard. Like this happens when I runch on it, or when I double tap it to the ground.

It is SO annoying! lol

Mine did similar symptoms, no codes related to the MAF sensor and made me suspect of everything, heck, even when I tested the MAF with a voltmeter it passed well...Long story short...Got a MAF sensor from a wrecked Max, and voila, MPG went up, no more hessitation, or dropping RPM's.

I strongly suggest you get a MAF and just test if it does anything, it may just fix your MAX.

Good luck!

It is sick. Got a $13 bluetooth adapter off shebay and I use my android and TorquePro to read all kinds of sensors and clear codes. If you have a laptop, shebay also has $3 usb bluetooth adapters. I love mine. You can log everything and more.

It checks things like a Snap-On scanner does as well? Like A/F? and if your o2 sensors are reading the proper amount?

The things that would matter to gas mileage on a scanner would be ignition advance, o2 sensor voltages, long term and short term fuel trims. The trims show you what your car is doing if it is adding fuel or taking away fuel. After new o2 sensors it may take awhile for the car to readjust the long term fuel trim.

ah I see. Well I just did the tune up today and currently I have a very horrible misfire on heavy loads, but I narrowed it down to the MAF cause it threw a code. Now this all happened after I spayed that K&N stuff on the filter on the "charge kit" lol

The program i was talking about "calculates" mpg. As to how well idk. It can show instant and over a period of time. According to the good ol fill up and check ur trip method, the program seems to be fairly accurate. It measures fuel rate, air flow, engine % used, throttle pos, o2 voltage, maf sensor, timing adv, vacuum, and lot more.
