Blue Tooth OBDII scanner not so good?

Just received my Blue Tooth scanner today. It is a Chinese eBay one. It seems to work on our 08 Chevy Uplander ok, but it will only read engine temp on the 96 Max. I purposely set a CEL, but it will not detect a trouble code. I will try it on my In-laws '99 F250 and '99 Mercury Villager tomorrow.

Has anyone else had trouble with this kind of scanner, or maybe its the Torque lite (free) not having most features?

I got a BT scanner then realized they aren't compatible with iOS, so today just got my WiFi to use with Torque through my iPad. I'm going to hook it up tomorrow see how it works.

Torque lite is your problem. I have the same scanner and tried had the same problem. I shelled out the $4.99 for the full version and now I can read almost every piece of info my vq30 keeps track of.

I don't know if its the scanner or torque but yea it works fine on my Max but it takes a while to connect on my coworker's Ford van. Can't go wrong for the price though. Should work for you. Good luck.

Its not the program. I had lite before I bought the full version. Even with lite I could view all sensors. Could be a problem with the adapter. Its known to be hit or miss with the adapters.

Edit: it is worth the $4.99 for the app

sent from HTC DNA using Maxima.org app

I grabbed the
Amazon bluetooth scanner Amazon bluetooth scanner
(after having an ebay one that chose to never work correctly) and use it with my '96 with absolutely zero issues.

I have this same scanner and use torque, everything works fine on my '03 max. I went to scan my brother's 97 sentra and it wouldn't pull the code, said nothing pending or current but the light was on. I downloaded obd droidscan pro and it pulled the code just fine. Try a different program.

THANK YOU! I went here http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%...Ub5nCS6J7MIuQg and downloaded pro for free. Everything works great now.

I had to go into Settings>Applications, and check Unknown Sources to allow the phone to download the APP. I am on a DroidX.

Well I set a CEL for the MAF again this morning, but the scanner would not detect any faults.

I think it is that *$#& ELM interface. I bought an Elm (not Bluetooth) and and all I could get was rpm on my 97, nothing on my 00 using 3 different software packages. Those Elm interfaces seem to either work or not work.

Just installed my Elm WiFi scanner today and it hooked right up and connected. Pretty cool app and glad to see I didn't have to DL any software add-ons.

Eventually it will tell you that you have an unauthorized version and will require you to purchase the actual program. (personal experience) Just a heads up
