I am mechanically inclined and have read older post to get me closer to finding the problem. I have 214k on my maxima and 10k (back then it was erratically shifting 1-2 2-3 just not all the time as well as a hard thunk when it shifts from 1-2.) ago went thru and drained transmission put in new filter and ATF. Did run smoother and shift better. Did get the codes out of it and ID the knock sensor and cam sensor as being faulty. replaced the knock sensor. Wheres the cam sensor located?

Now when I first start the car I am getting 15 or 16 flashes off the O/D light The tranni is stuck in 2nd gear Ive tried to manual shift shift (with & without the overide = on/off) with no luck. My issue I believe is either the dropping resistor (is this a voltage divider being used to tell the sensor when to enrgizer allowing the transmission to shift..?) or my sensors. How do i find out the correct sensors for my car..... I dont want to buy OE because to much $$$$$

20k ago I put brakes struts tires, ball joints thinking this would last awhile longer. two thoughts do i keep it and spend the money and run it (with general maintenance) or buy something else and get someones else problems?? Please advise

If it's flashing codes, it's electronic. Perhaps you should find someplace to read the codes and then put a repair plan together. It's very possible you have a solenoid issue.

OK Ill do that tomorrow. I found a drop resistor at a junk yard and if that does not fix ill go get the solenoid kit... what determine the kit# for the correct yr/make of car? get the Vin number or the tag on the door?? Thx 3fingers
