Hey your grille install looks great. I did mine as well but was wondering how you did the lower two openings. I put my gutter mesh behind the 'spines' in the lower two openings but want to put it in front like yours. Did you do anything special or just make exact cuts and wedge it in there? Thanks for any info.

I've got a 95. Yes, mine does have a lip but it is very small. I was afraid that debris would immediately push the gutter mesh in, and make it look bad. I am going to do what you did - only crappy thing is that by Maryland law I have to put my front license plate back on. YUK!!!! Thanks for the info.

Check out the links from this thread to see pictures but you basically buy gutter mesh from a Home Depot or Lowes and cut it to size and find a way to attach it to the car. The gutter mesh is sold in a package that contains around (I don't remember exactly) 5 strips of gutter mesh that measure roughly 18" X 7" or something like that. So, you use one strip for the grille w/ the Nissan logo on it and you use another strip to cut out peices for the lower openings of your grille. The mesh is very easy to cut w/ either wire cutters or tin snips. I used wire cutters. I also scratched my hands up pretty good. There are a lot of jagged edges after all that cutting so be careful. I removed my logo and made a card board template for the grille - with the template made I traced the pattern onto the gutter mesh and cut it out. (I did this so I wouldn't scratch up the paint trying to get the cut perfect) I attached the mesh to the grille with thin metal wire, similar to trash bag twist ties. The lower sections aren't quite as easy but can be done. I put mine behind the spines in the lower openings but plan to put them in the front, more flush with the bumper, when this snow stops comming down. Damn this is long.... I hope it helps. Good luck.

anyone thats intrested in a custom mesh grille for a 95 or 96 maxima can email me for pics at kctyphoon@aol.com.. ive made a couple before, mabye if theres enough people intrested ill make some more.. this inst just gutter mesh cut out and zip-tied over the old one. this is an entirely new grille for you car fabricated using your stock grille. the good thing about that is it comes back to you without you having to get it painted like if you were to buy the stillen smx grille..90% of the original plastic honeycomb is cut out and replaced with mesh. this can eliminate your front emblem if you choose to or it can me mounted back on. the quality can be easily seen and looks much better up close than just doing a layover. this grille is hand made and looks factory. but like i said, if you intrested email me for pics.. make sure you write grille in the subject so i dont delete it by accident. i spend anywhere from 9 to 12 hours making these and i feel the pictures speak for themselves..

You oughta just post a pic and see if you can start up a group deal? Just an idea for some ca$h for you. I'm pretty happy w/ my layover but certainly understand that yours probably looks much better. I think the trenz and smx look pretty sh***y imho. Not ment to offend....

well.. if i knew how to do it i would .. lol.. but i dont. i know i have to have a site to host the pics to begin with and im lucky i can use aol to begin with.. im much better with my hands than computers.. i know it would probably spark a lil more intrest, but then again i have over a dozen pics i can send someome if there intrested. basically showing how much work actaully goes into it along they way, and then the finshed product on the car from many diffent angles up close... by up close i mean inches away..
