I ask because when I put my a/c on let's say 67 it kicks down fan speed a lot faster than it used to. It doesn't cool off just kicks down. It seems the thermometer isn't right. I'm really thinking the thermometer is not good any longer or just tired.

I just remember it working a lot better years back

On trips I could set it to 70 or 71 and it would still pump out cold air. Now it changes the air to your feet and starts to introduce warm air

That's weird. The temperature setting should not cause the air vents to change outlets. The control unit in the dash may be going out to lunch.

I would suggest you run the self diagnostic on the a/c. The procedure starts on page 70 in the HA (Heating and Air) section of the FSM. But maybe you should start on page 65 for the air duct thing.

I remember doing that sequence last summer when I was battleing the AC issues. I was getting a PBR code and replaced that little PBR box thingy.

I may take some "air-in-a-can" stuff and spray in that grille piece in the front of the head. Im thinking maybe dust is on it.

I really think there is an issue because when I get in my 2011 Silverado and set it for 66 or 67, it blasts freezing cold air until it catches up to itself. Maybe considering the maxima is a 96 and my silverado is newer. Better Climate Control >?

The fan speed is supposed to be reduced as the cabin temperature gets close to the temperature setting.

This goes back to the temperature sensors in the system. If one of them is reporting an incorrect temperature, the system won't work as designed. The control unit uses the temperature sensors to move the air mix door. The air mix door "mixes" the cold air from the a/c with the hot air from the heater core to achieve the temperature you have set with the control unit.

The PBR is a variable resistor built into the air mix door motor, the "little boxy thing" you replaced. This resistor tells the control unit the position of the air mix door.

As you well know, something is not right. Start by running that self diagnostic and see what the results are.
