help with reds\clears

I ordered some new red\clears for my 97 4th gen and the 2 corner pieces fit perfectly with no problems but the 2 inner pieces don't aren't flush and its really bothering me. The left side isn't so bad as the right.

you've gotta get yourself a dremel and grind off about 1/4 inch of the circle the studs mount to. See this pic I took that shows the difference:

Bet they look like this, right?

You can see where the lip touches the trunk lid...

After dremel work:

ALSO: Get yourself some NON-capped nuts for those studs. The stud length is longer so the OEM capped nuts will NOT fit. They're the 8mm nut - M4 or 5 I believe. Take one to the hardware store and compare to be safe.

Nice and flush afterwards

yeah don't waste your time with returning them...it's apparently pretty common.

Dremel it down and you're good to go my friend

You mean a non capped nut? Like I mentioned? Not sure what an open ended nut is

Edit...looked in google and what I called a non- capped nut is the same as what you call open ended, apparently.
