Been putting things on the back burner since my 18 wheeler accident but now im ready to make a move. I found a place here called jdm engine corp in Carrollton, tx that carry the jdm vq30. Im looking to just build that motor for daily driving and need a lil advice. Im not looking to achieve big numbers but a solid engine I can play with and keep for a while cause I love my 98 4th gen. I COULD 3.5 swap but I cant find no one in dallas to do it or that have the time and if I do find a 5th gen its a chance the motor wont last a month. What would my fellow org buddies do ?

3.5 swap IMO if you have deep pockets.

There is Aackshun in Sugar Land TX.
He would do the swap for you I'm sure.

Otherwise stick with the good 'ol reliable 3.0.
Does that jdm mean mevi?

Yup, for 1100 it comes with a low mileage engine with harnes and ecu and of couse the mevi with EVERYTHING and no they wont part the engine.

IM doing the same thing I though about the 3.5 but I figured I can get a 3.0. Build it completely while the other motor in my 4th is still running right and when it's time, drop a turbod 3.0 in. It's gonna be saweeet

I like that idea but I wanna stay n/a and probaly port and polish the heads and go with cams. If possible I wouldnt mind taking the 3.5 crank and 3.0 heads and throwing tjem in that jdm vq30 and jus put miles on it.

Not worth it if you ask me. There's nothing special about the jdm engines except for the mevi. And the 00vi>mevi anyways. So I would keep your current and just 00vi. You can find a full vi kit on here for less than $300. And even cheaper if you got a junkyard near by with a full 00-01 maxima

I like the VQ35 idea, but that will be a lot of work.

I heard the 00vi install was a pita but if I went 3.5 wouldnt a 05 with the egr be a easier swap ?

It's not that bad. It's definitely less work than everything that goes into a 3.5 swap.

00vi swap is relatively easy so long as you have all your parts before hand. I did it when I was 17 and it only took me like 6 1/2 hours with almost No prior mechanical experience.

I could do one now in less than 2 hours, and alot of that would be the pain in the *** that is the EGR system.
