which oil filter?

My car specs are in my signature. I purchased a big bottle of mobil 1 5w-30 extended performance oil.

A friend of mines said I now need an oil filter. Which oil filter should I get?

you can get a good deal on ebay for the OEM, Wix, or Mobil 1 oil filters. I think those 3 are the best you can get and they are no more expenisve than any other when you buy in bulk

There's a sticky for this.....

Recommended Oil Filters for VQ engines, ranked in order of preference based upon my own observations:
  • Mobil 1 M1-105 (fits VQ35DE only)
  • Nissan OEM 15208-9E000 ONLY (for all VQ30DE and VQ35DE engines)
  • Mobil 1 M1-110 (fits both VQ engines, but bypass valve isn't as good as M1-105 filter)
  • Amsoil SDF-20 (fits both VQ engines)
I use the M1-110

the OEM 9E000 is actually out of date. Nissan has replaced it with another. Seems of the same quality but it is made in Mexico

I also use synthetic. Sometimes Mobile 1 , sometimes the O'Riley synthetic.

I use the Mobile 1 -110 filter, or a WIX filter. Purolator is good, as is K&N. Stay away from FRAM. Even the parts stores will say that they are junk.

I used FRAM exclusively. But not the orange Economy ones. Those are junk. I use the Tough Guard silver ones with the sure girp. Never an issue.

You want to buy this one: PureOne PL14610 made by purolator. It's a gold filter. I use that with mobil1 from walmart 5qt jugs of 0W-40. Filters I get from advanced auto part store. And I change it every 3k miles.

I've been using FRAM for just about all of the 200k miles on my engine.
Also use the same filter on my Yamaha FJR1300.
Never an issue.

Hello,
I am the tech manager at FRAM, also the owner of a turbocharged 2005 350Z. I use the FRAM Ultra XG7317. Why? It is the only dual layer full synthetic media filter on the market, has 99% efficiency and capacity to go 15k mile between changes. there is simply nothing compared to it in the market. The K+N filters used to be made by us in the USA, now built in Korea with cheaper media. Mobil 1 filters are also made by us, the extended life version has single layer synthetic media. For those "bashing FRAM" on here over having fiber end caps, cut open a OE Nissan filter- they have gone to the exact same design. Why? Because it works. Honda, Nissan, Subaru, AC Delco and others now use this type of design. Happy to answer any filter questions at jay.buckley@framgrp.com

Mobil 1- made by FRAM, WIX-85% efficiency (FRAM is 95-99% depending on model), Purolator Pure one, filters at particle sizes so big it does not protect your engine, K+N- used to be a good filter, also made by FRAM in the USA, now outsourced to a Korean manufacturer with cheaper media.

No reason yo be a brand *****. Napa gold/Wix or purolator are better than oem nissan and much cheaper.
Nissan filters have cardboard endcaps like the orange frams, and are chinese now.
