Clean or possibly replace the outlet.

Mine had a couple sweet spots where I had to rotate it to get power, but I just went to the junkyard and this one works fine.

Probably the outlet is bad as stated. The outlets have a built in fuse in them that can blow. But you could check and see if the wire going to the outlet has 12 volts before buying anything, just in case.

That's exactly what I had to do with mine. I ended up cleaning it very well & it worked fine after that.

Probably just best to replace it, I'm going to be doing that here soon since mine seems to be getting a little iffy.

Poop the trim off around the gear shift. It's just held on with clips. Remove the power socket, clean or replace.
