Click under dash

Ok ive changed a starter & ran a new starter wire but I can turn the engine over by jumping the cylinoid but it will not start &,when I use my key it makes a click on the far left side of the dash. Any ideas?

There are several relays under the dash on the left side that make a click, but you usually don't hear them because the sound of the engine cranking drowns them out. If the clicking is fairly soft, then this sounds normal.

Two sort of common things that happen are the ignition switch being bad or the park/neutral switch on the transmission is bad.

Assuming you have an automatic trans, try wiggling the shift lever when turning the key or put the lever in neutral and try starting the car. If this doesn't work then take the ignition switch off and turn it with a screwdriver.

let us know how this works for you.
