Major progress in DE-K swap!

This weekend me and 1 buddy managed to fight through 2 seized axle nuts and yank out the old 217,000 mile motor with just the 2 of us!! Crazy.. Big shout out to Maxima1239! He's moved on to a 07 G35 but he still knows his Maximas lol. Vq30de with auto trans out Vq30de-k with a 5speed an 77k miles going in. Heres some pics I'll add to them after I clean the engine bay. This is fresh jsut got done for tonight.

what, no cherry picker? i have 251,000 and i'm planning on leaving that block in until she stops running. awesome motor, prolly replace mine with a jdm in da spring unless maxy's still running strong. gl

Might want to confirm there is no problem with the vias before putting it in.

It's looking good. I had that engine cover in my Maxima. Much better than stock!

The engine to heater core coolant hoses are a bear to change out when the engine is in the car. This would be a good time to replace them. All coolant hoses, all new.

Oh I had one, maxed it out too... barely cleared the front end lol

Yeap, torched it for like 10 minutes they were hella seized

Did you try a 4 foot pipe on the breaker bar first? They are at like 200 ft/lbs. and always require more to break free.

DE-K refers to VQ30DE-K which is the engine out of the 2000-2001 maxima. It differs from the VQ30DE in the 95-99 Maxima in that it has a better intake manifold, slightly different cams (exhaust cam only iirc), different fuel injectors, etc. It makes 222hp (or 227 in the case of the Anniversary edition, not sure if there is a real 5hp bump there or not) as opposed to 190hp for the 95-99.
