Just get a mass airflow adapter and a cone filter and call it a day.

Last post from me. Should I just buy the piping from a cheap company or make it myself and switch out the filter?

cai

Good friend of mine just bought a 98 Se with 78k on it from an old dude...in allmost mint condition other than a few stains on the rug on passenger floor...but to the point..he splurged on a $300 and some odd change cold air intake ..i have driven it before installation days at a time and then quite a bit after he put it in.........and in all honesty other than the suction noise , i noticed absolutely NOTHING!!and thats with doing a complete tuneup at the same time!
ive often thought bout a cai, but the way i figure it is, the car is what is is...and i get the mod bug every so often and when i do i just thro the cash i was gonna mod with in the bank, till its time for a new one..then let the modding begin!!!i 4th gens are nice cars and if you do insane maintainence on yours it should last a while...well long enough to put a few bucks in the bank every time you have a mod thought pop into mind!!!!now im not saying a cai wont do nothing to every vehicle, but he has stock exhaust and thats probabaly why it didnt do much in terms of H/P..if it did anything at al(and i mean anything) hed nbe lucky if he got a slim 4hp more...but id bet it was closser to 2 H/P!!!!!!not worth the cash IMHO!!and he went with K&N

Today's youth. I swear, would at least attempting some proper grammar kill you? Good post, but man, I have a headache from trying to read that.

STAY IN SCHOOL IF IT'S NOT TOO LATE!

And yes, rap is CRAP.

Never have I seen so many responses on a garbage thread. A custom intake is the best for both 30 and 35 engines. The crap they sell isnt worth jack. The stock intake on the 30 is damn good and the GAB for the 35 is damn good. Both cheap

I've got a sri on my 95 max, don't know what the gains if any it actually made but did seem to be a little bit more spry.

I've though about going to cai but I'm concerned about the filter getting wet from rainy road conditions. If anybody has had any experience that can verify one way or the other please let me know.

If there's more mods to come than yes. Just don't follow in the foot steps of 95maxaholics friend and pay $300 for one

That was my first mod back in May of 2000 when I picked up my 95. JWT POP to be exact. If I had the knowledge I have now, $$, I would have gone a different route. This is all dependent on your goals though.
