Need to replace rotted out steel brake lines

Both brake lines going to the rear are rotted and one already sprung a leak. I noticed that our master cylinders have 4 ports instead of the normal 2. Can I skip that mess of a distribution block on the firewall that you cant get to and run new lines from the master directly to each wheel? This is assuming the master has an internal proportioning valve in it. Otherwise I dont know how to get to that block on the firewall that the lines go in and out of. Its for my 96 max se.

You don't need to do any of that. Unless it's rotted from there. Get some 3/16 brake line and dot approved compression fittings or make unions and flares your self above the break in the line where it's not rusty. and repair. Simple as that, run new lines if you want but other wise pretty straightforward.

+1 on this. I just did this to my 96' for the rear right wheel. By the looks of things the rear left isn't far behind. Cut out the bad area and replace with new lines. Unless you're feeling crafty...go for the whole thing! I'm guessing after you see all the bends under the gas tank and over the rear axle, you'll agree it's just easier to replace the bed section.

+2, also remember you can run the new lines how you want does not have to be o.e exact but up and secured. Next time I do a set at work I'll take pics and and see if they will sticky it.
