Check the ATF and see if it needs to be flushed. Look for brown color or burnt smell, also feel if it's slippery.

vb won't help, just drive it easy and you should be ok. when my car started to slip, i still pushed the car which led to no reverse
and no first gear. but i was able to get reverse and first gear once in awhile then total loss. so just drive it easy and you should be good.

oh dang,

I lost reverse ummm 6-9 months before my tranny went.. and I still drove it QUITE HARD once I had lost reverse. Reverse would slip super bad, and then it all out went out. From then, 1-2 slipped real bad, and i kept driving it - hard

I didnt care... once that shift got bad, it wouldn't take off from the line, it would run to about 5000rpm and then engage, resulting in super tight burnouts!!! was one of the coolest things ever, didnt have to worry about tranny damage from burning out, and 5000rpm drop in an auto was amazing haha.. I only drove it like that for a day cause it was a pain, I couldnt take off from a redlight without burning them super bad.. it was awesome though showing off hahahha

If you drive it easy, you should have alittle more life out of her - can't give a definate time, but 2-4 mo ?

just like a slipping clutch on a 5spd, the engine wil rev, but the car will not pull... shifts will get reeeall delayed and drawn up (high revs) until it gets into the new gear..

ok i guess i am safe for now. the only reason is that recently i can feel that my tranny is not what it use to be. i don't know if it is just me or if the tranny is begining to go out.

If the ATF gets too hot it forms gums and varnish that get deposited in the passages and shift selenoids. This will cause the shifts to take longer and cause more slipping of the clutches, more heat, etc. Places that use a flushing agent (solvents) in their fluid exchange machines will get this crud out. You can also do it yourself by adding a few oz's of Marvel Mystery Oil to the trans and then drive it for a few days. Then get a full fluid exchange. On a trans with your milage, I would suggest Valvoline Maxlife ATF. I would also add a botttle of Lubegard (red) (see: http://www.lubegard.com/automotive/atp.html)
