Can we get similar grilles for 4th gen...
... Take a look at the link below. Look at the grilles without the factory embems. I personally saw the third one on a vw golf gti next to a regular grille (at the vw dealer) and let me tell you how good it look. Those grilles will be different from stillen and trenz not to mention the home depot mesh.
This is a product that will definely set apart the front end of our vehicles.
Just an idea (hint: shadow, Maxximum tuning, LucentAuto, etc...)

Looking at the picture, the grilles can appear to be "open" in the middle, but in fact they have black plastic (abs)or black mesh. The grille I am envisioning will definetly not be open in the middle.
BTW, the vw I saw was new and a dealer car. I also some similar grill on S4-A4 and Volvo. They are so much nicer in person..

I have seen in person Dan93 from warpspeed with a mod grill on his 93SE and because of the structure of the grille (as well as the structure for the 95-96 models), it is much easier to make a home depot grille without the emblem.
But as far as the 97-99 models are concerned, the structure of the grille make it difficult to make a homemade grille without the emblem.

The horizontal bar is the distinguishing item that separates the 95-96 models with the 97-99 models. Someone else posted their dislike for the hamburger emblem and we told him to paint it black so it doesn't stand out. I've noticed that your Max is beige so maybe you should paint it beige to blend in.

Painting the emblem might not be too noticable for a black car, as the front end will all be black. But with a light color, I believe that a painted emblem will still be showing especially the black plastic in the back of the grille.
All I want is color match hedges/trims and black background, no emblems, no horizontal bar..

I've got a 3rd Gen, can someone let me in on a site with detailed instructions for making a mesh grill, or give me some nice pointers? My stupid non-ABS brakes
slid me a foot to long to kiss the rear end of a neon. Only paint left on her licsense plate, paint off my bumper,
and a craked grill from the nosediving impact. Thanks! ~
