Transmission Fluid Flush/Replacement on a Manual
Hey guys, I've searched and searched on forums, google, youtube etc. and I can't find the solution to my problem.
So, I have a 5-speed 95' Maxi that needs a transmission fluid flush. It's been 2 years since it was last changed. Well I've had the car for 2 years, I don't know how long it's been since the last owner changed it.
Anyway, THERE'S NO DIPSTICK FOR THE TRANS FLUID. I went under the car and couldn't even find a drain plug for it either.
Is there suppose to be one? Am I going crazy? Stupid question, but do manuals even need trans fluid? Help me out! Thanks for reading.

Manuals have no dip stick.
The drain plug is located under the crossmember/motor mounts.
The way to check it is to use 1/2 ratchet to unscrew the fill hole in the front.
The fluid should be right at the line as soon as you feel for it.
Use GL-4, and Amsoil if you can afford it.

I have a 99 5-speed, there is no dipstick that I am aware of. There is a fill plug toward the front that you remove with a 1/2 inch ratchet drive. There is also a drain plug at the bottom (a little hard to spot, it is at the low point toward the engine side).

It's a large round plug that has a square hole in it/perfect size for a 1/2" ratchet head/facing your radiator about the half way point from axle to engine.

The correct drainplug is very very small and is wedged between the crossmember and the shifter brace, so to speak.
What you can do, which I did, it to go to the other side (drivers side) and remove the reverse switch sensor. That thing is huge plastic thingy with a ire going from it. Your gear oil will drain in no time.
Once finished, re-install that sensor, then open up the fill hole and fill it up with any GL-4 fluid, synthetic is better of course. Assuming your car is jacked up and level, the moment the oil starts spilling out of the tranny thru the fill hole is the moment you have put the exact amount of fluid inside.
Both of these are accessible freely without disturbing anything else.
