I can understand fender flares that serve no purpose being silly, but if the scoop were on top side and fed fresh air in a non damaging way to the air filter, that'd be kinda cool! I wonder if anybody has done something like this....

I've been thinking of a small Ram air scoop over where the air filter for the SC is. If I remember correctly there was a Mercedes a few years ago that had a Ram air scoop for the Kompressor.

I met a guy last summer with a turbo'ed Probe and he had a hood scoop grafted onto his hood. He soon found out that the rain would get in and accumulate on top of the engine, wrecking havoc with the electrics. He added a small sheet of plastic to divert the rain water. If we added a Ram air scoop we'd probably have to consider that too.

I almost put a scoop in my fender for the s/c. I bought it and everthing but my friend at the bodyshop talked me out of it. He gave me a good idea about putting the filter in the fender and running a dryer hose from the front dam up into the fender to create a "cold air box". He said thats what he used to do when he built race cars.
BTW, I think a hood scoop might look good. Every time I see a WRX I think to myself....hmmmm....might work.
