Trunk is leaking when it rains

I have a puddle of water in my spare tire hole in my trunk. Is there a common spot where the trunk leaks?

After work I plan on running a water hose around it to see if I can see where its leaking. Then if possible, using silicon to seal it.

Thanks for any ideas.
Matt

I don't know if its common but my 97 began to leak along the top rear edge after I removed the decklid doing some other work. Inspect your rubber seal to ensure its not broke, also check to see if it seals properly against the trunk lid when closed.

If you have a moonroof, its possible the drain tube has a hole or its cut up.

I had the same issue, it was leaking through the tail lights. You need to buy the black tail light sealer from Nissan. It comes in a roll and is really gooey especially when warm. You need to reapply the sealer around the tail lights. You will see where to put the sealer once you remove the tail lights. Easy Fix.

I currently have this problem and saw it in the middle of showers. It is coming from the joints where Nissan attached the trunk where the water channels to drain. Once it gets a little warmer, I will be buying silicone to redo the entire seal.

As previously mentioned, tail lights are a very likely source. If this is your problem, you can buy a tube of windshield sealer at your local auto parts store. Whatever you decide to use, you have to remove the tail light assembly in order to apply it.

Wow, thanks for all the great feedback! I didn't get to spend as much time on it as I hoped to tonight because I was helping a friend troubleshoot an EVAP code on his Honda accord and then I was working tightening on my power steering belt. It was so loose, it could have come off.

Ill take a look at everything mentioned here, especially that seal when I remove the tail lights.

And I know my sunroof is leaking, but thats a whole separate issue.

Thanks!
