What is a standard warrantee for a yard engine?

Hello, the local yards quoted used engines in the $300-$350 range. I was wondering what the standard warrantee would be. Are southwest engines really that much better? I got a quote of $715 for one so I wondered. The guy at one yard knows a guy who would do it for $350. Decentprice? I'm very leery when I get quoted labor prices in 30 packs of Budweiser or Busch. Thank you much for any advice. Merry Christmas to all!

here i think the yards are 30 days, if the engine blows or whatever you return it for yard credit, same as anything else. or you can buy extended warranty

a 30 pack of beer for removing a yard engine i could see because youre just ripping and tearing, but for the complete swap no way. its not a easy job

Ask the yard you plan to buy from...Call a few other yards for comparison....

30 days sounds about right atleast here in Canada. Not sure about the U.S? Price sounds about right too. If it's within travelling distance i'd take a look at it first.

They are within driving range, I meant multiple 30 packs, forgot to ask about warrantee when calling yesterday. I'm a little leery in general when I get a quote in how much beer instead of cash.:-).

The price of the engine will depend on its mileage, not its location.
The warranty will depend on the salvage yards policies.

I called the yard that mentioned knowing a guy who could swap for $350. $300 for the engine, just under 96000 miles, calling back on Thursday. Merry Christmas folks!

So $650 all together sounds like a very reasonable price. Especially If he'll warranty his work. Merry Christmas to you too.

Thank you much, I pulled my radiator today, that'll be getting changed too, but with a new one. Had to slice the hoses for the transmission cooler. I'm not sure about warranties yet. This will be a lot easier than finding a decent car at that price.:-)

went to the yard today to look at it, totally forgot I bought the front coil packs. Probably beaten to death but how hard is it to change a 5 speed to an auto transmission
