For those of us who have the moonroof/sunroof air deflector, are you guys somehow isolating the deflector from the car roof to prevent damage to the car's finish?

I fairly routinely remove the OE deflector from my '99 SEL for cleaning and am always aghast at the friggin paint damage it causes.
