VB Mod Question

So What I gather from what I've read is that The Actual VB mod is around $450 dollars then you have to pay a shop to install it?

1. how much does it usually cost for a shop to install it?

2. How difficult is your Valvebody to remove from your car and where is it located?

3. Also when you send your VB out to him does he send you a finished one immediately that isn't actually your VB?

4. or do you wait until yours is modified then he sends it back?

Please somebody address these questions as The process seems it a bit confusing and the website doesn't clarify some of these points (or maybe it does and I just didnt get it) Well thanks for any help you can offer.

- I don't know how much a shop would charge to install, it's not a hard process.

-Take your pan off and it's right there.

-He will recalibrate yours and send it back to you. He offers a core program but there is a deposit on top of the $450 if you do that. There might even be a wait to do that.

Hope this helps...

Do it yourself.. it's a 3 hour process from start to finish. I take it that you've never helped swap out or installed a valvebody on your own.

Average bodyshop charges $60/hr for labor. You do the math. Bodyshops around here (NY/NJ area) charge $200-250 easily for a valvebody swap.

It's not a highly skilled job, but to do it right, one must take time and follow Don's write up carefully. You will need to map each screw to the identical hole on the chamber. The screws all look the same but each have diff. length. Misplace one and you can easily blow the tranny.

Lol!

Seriously you can do it yourself and save money and be proud of your accomplishment!

I'm pretty handy with tools and after reading Don's instructions I did it by myself in 4 hours. If you consider yourself to be handy with tools too just take your time, be careful with the bolts and you'll get through it. If not, then see if one of the Org members in your area has done it and enlist their help otherwise have a mechanic do it for you.

Yes, the VB is roughly $450 shipped to your door and you must send your core back to him/ or send your VB to him and then he mods it. You can work that out with him. Be patient, he is a very busy man.

1. Im not sure what shops charge, i think its about $200 or so for a VB swap. It depends on their hour rates. It should be no more then a 2-3 hour job for them.

2. Its very easy to do DIY, but i must warn you, its VERY messy. I would try to get my hands on a lift. Doing this under jackstands is a bit tough and the VB isnt the lightest thing in the worls either. Its located right under your tansmission pan. Drop the pan (about 2x bolts) and you will see the VB w/ the transmission fotler attached to it.

3. He usually has a VB already done up and ready to send. Someone else will have your VB. THe VB's are completely rebuild and Don uses all OEM parts during rebuild. Its as good as new if not better.

4. This is something you have to work out with him.

It was yo it's ok and RBa... and it didn't die ... they were messing around. There have been absolutely no problems with Don's VB so far IIRC.

It seems to be reliable. And if anything it would be people who get it then start beating on there car more that is the problem.
