need some help with a fuel leak

My 95 se started smelling like fuel on cold start up like a lot do and I found a small drip by the firewall that I can't see exactly where it is. It appears to be above a fuel line I can see through the master cylinder.

Is there another Fuel line above that one? What does it take to get at it? I'm starting to feel like the plenum might need removed. thanks for any info

I'm fairly certain that there is no fuel line that runs by/over the master cylinder. The metal line from the fuel pump runs under the body and comes up just below the fuel filter. then a rubber hose connects to the fuel filter and another rubber hose then runs to the injector fuel rail.

What is most likely happening is that you have a rubber hose that is drying out and cracking. When it is cold, the hose contracts and leaks. As you drive, the hose warms up and swells and stops leaking. But it will eventually get worse to where it leaks all the time.

Besides the 2 rubber hoses on the fuel filter, you also have 4 rubber hoses for the fuel rails and another hose for the fuel return to the tank.

I finally figured out a way to see the leaker....I took a small mirror and used my led light and could see that the leak is coming from both hoses at the clamp. tomorrow is going to be a little warmer so I'll see if I can get at them to tighten.

You would be well served to replace that hose while you are at it. The hose has already hardened to the point were the clamp no longer supplies enough pressure. You'll probably be doing the same thing next winter.
