Where to pick up 12v in engine compartment with ign on/start?
Where to pick up 12v in engine compartment with ign on/start?
Hi Everyone,
I've read through all the "parasitic drain" posts, there are a lot of them.
I have one, can't really pin it down. So, am going to install a relay.
I'd like to run it off the ignition switch, but I'm trying to find a power source in the engine compartment that's hot with ignition in both on and start.
I looked at the wiring diagram, it shows the green/yellow to the alarm relay is supposed to be hot in ignition on/start, but it doesn't read that way with a multimeter.
Any ideas?
Thanks for any help.
Jim

I pulled all the fuses, couldn't find the drain. I just need a stop gap till I can get back in town and do it right. Leaving Tuesday for international travel, not my choice.
Car has 225+ miles on it so I'm fortunate for it to be running as good as it does.
I need something under the hood to connect the relay to so it's closed when starting and running.
So, will at least keep hunting under the hood. Thought one of you gurus would know of an easy place. Didn't really want to try to go through the firewall.
I do appreciate your response. It is much appreciated.
Jim
