Radio problems

i have a 97 Maxima with the stock Bose system. It was working fine till recently. for some reason, i go to turn it on and there is no sound from any of the speakers. the lights come on, the antenna activates and i can even see the ST blinking when it's on a station with static. but there is no sound at all. any suggestions?

Check the fuses for the amplifiers.

I have the same problem. I believe it is with output processor. I need to take it out and examine it when it's not working.

I think it's another resister coming off the board similar to the display issue.

Reason:
It works when warmed up and if I shut it off when it's working it usually work when i start the car back up.

If not I do the following.

Try turning up volume to almost max and have heat on full blast for approximately 20min. That's when mine will come back on.

I was going to try and pull it out this weekend.

Bad idea IMO.
Gets expensive fast when this problem can likely be fixed cheap.

1. OP probably needs a fuse and you recommend that a new radio be purchased.
2. The OP has Bose and would need a limiter to still use the Bose amps without sounding like crap.
3. OP would also need a harness, trim, and an antenna adapter.
4. OP would need to wire it all.

OR replace the fuse...yeah..

As Fakie says, check the fuses. Specifically, check fuse # 22, a 10 amp fuse. Fuse 22 is in the dashboard fuse block, the center column, 5th from the top. Count any empty spaces.

Or you can check for 12 volts on the red wire on any of the speakers. The red wire comes from fuse # 22.
