What exactly do you mean?

I have a similar problem on my 1992 Nissan 2.4 pickup. I have cleaned the TB and the MAF, replaced the TPS. Some times the sensors are the problem. Now to figure out which one.....

Sounds like IACV, but just throwing guesses since it's that kind of thread.

Sure, sounds like the IACV...... Yet I cleaned the IACV on both the Max and the pickup. Both respond to electrical signals. I never had a problem with the Max. I just cleaned the TB and IACV because it was time. I did the same procedure on the pickup.

It appears that the IACV responds to the commands from the computer.
A defective sensor can give the computer bad information. The computer then responds to the lies the sensor gives. Sometimes the idle goes up when the computer thinks the idle speed needs to be increased.

So which sensors can lie to the computer by giving it bad information? Sometimes the coolant temperature sensor, the intake air temperature sensor. Which other ones..... what am I missing?

The principals are the same. I have noticed corrosion on the sensors on the truck. These cause resistance. The resistance will cause the lies that the sensor tells the computer. The fix was to clean the crud from the sensors. Might work on a Maxima too.

Start by checking that all your connector are fully engaged, no corrosion on the pins, shake each sensors harness slightly to ensure its not faulty wiring! Check all you emission solenoids with a VOM or apply 12 volt to them to ensure they're functional! And with the 2000-01 having so many hoses check all hose connections and I personally would change all that to silicone type hoses which last damn near forever!
