Took My Car To Maaco
Took my car to Maaco, boy do these guys take their time. From what I read online is they usually rush or do a halfass job. Well the one in my area is decent. I'll upload pics of my car when they finish.

Lol. $1, 700 for my car only because I want them to prep and paint the car a different color. Blood Candy Red is the color I choose. That accord I posted a pic of has the Enamel paint while I picked the Utherine. Basically if I wanted the car the same color with no body work they'd charge me $800.

hmm not bad, how much do they charge an hour for body damage repairs? (not dings from parking lots) Then paint.
Can't wait for the pics, blood candy red seems an interesting color. and having whole car repaint for $800 same color, aint bad.. but I gotta see how well they do. lol

It depends on the Maaco on how much they charge an hour. My guess is it's $45 an hour per 18 hours of body work on my car. I cannot wait either but it seems I choose a bad time to bring the car. -__- Income Tax time, so they are pretty much backed up. My car has been there for 3 weeks.

I'm expecting to to be done next week. Stupid New England weather is another problem. It rains a lot. But after seeing them paint 3 cars the day I went to check on my car I'm confident in their work.

Man, that looks nice. I'm partial to black cars and I need to get my Old School redone. I've been saving money for the job then I have to find a decent shop for the work because my car has chrome and a lot of curves. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

No problem man. Yeah that Accord came out nice. Lol. How old we talkin?

things to note...
maaco is just like any body shop...their cheap paint job that they advertise is just that...cheap.
the job on the accord is ok...i see some orange peel in a few spots.
nismo...ask why they didnt pull the tailights off the car.
also looks like a good deal of rust repair. did they discuss how they are replacing the rusted out pieces? weld or glue?
are they painting the door jams too?
they didn't pull the taillights on the accord either...hmmmm possible tape line.

I had a car of mine painted at maaco years ago it looked good right after but 8 months in lot of bubbles came up started chipping and they taped everything there was a lot of tape lines. Also to note the work on your passenger quarter were the bondo spreads to the bumper cover why is the bumper not off??? that bondo is going to get stuck between the bumper cover and quarter panel

i did not pay the car was shot at where it was stored for awhile had the police involved an once the people were caught i believe there family's insurance payed for it so they did have to fill a good amount of bullet holes. my advise to you would be if u can stop by daily i would and if u see something you dont like ask about it cause in the end once you leave with that car your stuck with it

i mean honestly to really do a full color change correctly the shop should pull all the glass, all the rubber around the doors but at the end of the day that gets sacrificed due to what the owner is willing to pay for the job.

pulling bumpers is additional labor. that's usually not something a body shop wants to do....or at least eat the cost of.

oh wow cause i have a dent that is a bit creased not too bad, but its kinda where ur passenger dent is but lower.. let me just show u lol, easier.
This is what it looked like when i first bought it, it was the only dent on the car, about 10 months later, some guy from a body shop pulled up in his truck while I was putting gas in my car and said he could pop the dent out if I like, and I took the risk. he had his business advertisement(u know what i mean) on his truck and all the tools to repair body work he even had paint! lol, so it made it more realistic.. but it was going to be a quick 25 min job, so it wasn't like he spent hours, it just to make it look it look a bit better than before.
10 months later.... the dent really rely's on the angle of the car, and where it is. sometimes u cannot even see it, sometimes its noticeable. And it was like this how it was before he popped the dent out. so It was like a ok-win-crap situation lol
One day got it to a angle where u cant even see it, and this is what I want it to look like after I repair the damage, I look at this picture to keep the hopes up lol

Not bad, bro. Most likely to repair that dent they gotta use bondo like with mine. I popped mine out a little with a rubber mullet but that caused chipping off my factory paint, hence why I went all out with the paint job. Lol.

your paint looks faded and dull jason, clay bar it and wax yet? to the maaco guy, hate to say it but it'll look good for about a year cause the paint is watered down, the prep sucks, and they'll only put like 1 coat of base and 2 coats of paint and 1 clear and it'll bubble out and fade quick. orange peeled and over sprayed all of my cars, (3) that i took to them, my 85 camry was repainted twice till the paint looked thick enough to me and they f'ed up the glass and wheels with overspray. maaco ftl
#33
yeah same, it caused a tinyyyy paint crack, its where the bumper meets, just a size of a dot really. but it did make it better temporarily for just a 25 min job from a guy who works at a body shop. and the paint crack doesn't matter cause they remove the paint anyway and get down to bare metal. and have to repaint again, so it didn't bother me.
And I dont mind bondo, just as long it doesn't come off and I dont see the nasty dent on the quarter panel.. its the worse spot to have a dent, others...just take off and snap right back on..bumpers, doors, fenders, u name it... Its yet so far from looking new again, but so close at the same time. But I want quality job So im waiting to see results from Maaco but chances are I probably go to a shop I perfer. So I save my $ for somthing good. I want it to look good after the job, So thats why I wait and wait for the right time.
that was my goal when i bought it, I had to clean up stuff from the driver rear window, there was some "tape" and "brown rust looking" around at the top of window, but it wasn't real rust and was able to clean it all off. Interior is flawless for black leather so i dont got to work with that.
Pretty much just needed a little more "keep me alive, little more love" when I bought it. previous owner was a senior(old guy) so he knew how to keep the car running good. since he probably had so many cars in his life so its common sense lol.

yea well the story behind of this maxima was interesting cause, that I was buying a Toyota Camry(was looking for a car) that was low miles(97k range) and almost same age as maxima but 2yrs later. and the camry was from her wife but she passed and he had to sell it after that.
When i arrived It had small damage on the hood, driver side front fender, and even on the roof above front passenger seat, now thats not pretty. again the interior was flawless, car ran great, but had much more damage than the maxima. And thats when I turned around and Saw his nice maxima he had with the quarter panel damage only, and I bought it right on the spot after a test drive. and set a goal "keep it alive, more love" and i looked it on craigslist, found out he only had the post up for a day. so i probably got lucky. didnt know he had it up.
it only has 130k.. so it still has a long road to go. and it has no rust because in my area we never really get snow.
hah yea it doesn't seem right to have new paint front end and then "???? faded" paint for doors and rear parts. would look funny lol, I would picture that right now.

Lol. Exactly man, I'm not picky just want the car one color again. I have visors for all the windows, rims, hids, and brand new corner lights waiting for this car. So it's just a matter of time. Hopefully this Friday is the day I pick it up. You did a good choice with the Max. Camry's are okay but it's not as Sporty.
#38
the wife had Camry, cause its not sporty, while the husband has maxima that is sporty. usually the girl wants a reliable car, and then the guy sport looking type lol. I dont regret buying it from him though. even tho it had quarter damage, the paint is great, u name it all..
most people turn away when they see car damage, but there's a difference between when u can tell when the car has been hit by a car, versus small damage that u have no clue but u already know it wasn't involved in a major accident, possibly a parking spot hit and run but i doubt cause it had no paint over it.. like lets say a red car hit it.. no red paint over the white, owner turned too quickly in reverse into a sharp object? Thats what it looks like to me If u think about it. I wish I knew but I know that it didn't get in a accident. and I did carfax and such.
cars can get dents without being hit by a car so I mean, just gotta know the differences in my opinion,

Lol. The body is only as good as the motor my friend. -_- These guys are slow. No paint today, but they told me
to check it out. Looks like they are completing the body work today so I'll leave them my input on prep. I'll post more pics too.
