Need help on replacing bulbs that illuminate radio buttons at night

I have the stock radio that came with a 98 Maxima SE. I believe it's a Bose system, but it doesn't display a Bose label. At night, a number of buttons don't illuminate, such as the preset station numbers 3 and 4 and the buttons above those station numbers. Is there a way to remove the push buttons to expose the bulbs, or does the whole radio have to come out? Can some one supply instructions to do either? I never bought a service manual for the car.
Also has anybody put in better quality speakers, or a subwoofer kit? The sound is decent, but the bass sound doesn't come up to real audiophile quality.
Thanks for responding to this.....................retiredlucky

IF it doesnt say bose on the cassette door..its not a bose!..some nissan radios look identical to the bose head units, they just arent bose....i have taken apart a bose like the one u probably have..its not hard..just pay attention..
do the nissan radios that arent bose have tweeters in the doors above the handles? like the bose do?often wondered that?

Your radio is probably Clarion. You have to take the whole radio out in order to take off the faceplate. It is not that hard to do.
