clean inside headlight?

clean inside headlight?
I've done a search and couldn't find anything useful. Driving home today, my one headlight bulb blew up inside the headlight. How do I clean up the headlight and get the glass out? Am I better off getting a new headlight?

You could probably remove the lense, point it upwards, use a can of compressed air with the attachment on to blow the broken glass out... I'm not sure you'd want to use air from a compressor unless you can make sure there isn't any oil blowing out of it. You might want to give it a try before springing for the new lense...
If you are getting a replacement... can i have/buy your old one (97-99)... I'd like to see if I can experiment on the lense with HID/shielding/etc. and write up the results... lemme know.

there was just someone asking this the other day... I think it was Nine7Max.... u can probably use the same method as u do with the tails, to open them up and clean the inside.
BTW, if this headlight is the RIGHT headlight (looking from inside the car) i'd buy it off u, because i just need the bracket which is shattered on mine if Chunger doesn't want it 1st that is

Pull out the bulb assembly. Use a shop-vac with a length of 1/2" hose (I actually used an aquarium siphon ) taped ghetto-style on the end of the regular hose. That takes care of the glass.
If you have white residue from the bulb, bend a coathanger in half and sitck a rag in the bend. Spray lots of glass cleaner on there. Work it around inside and you can get it out. Be careful not to scratch anything. It might take you an hour, but it's much faster than taking out the headlight and having to melt it apart.

Re: Re: clean inside headlight?
I got a set of attachments at WalMar for cheap and they fit the end of a vacuum hose - this helped a bunch. They have bent shapes and brushes and are really small. So small that they could only hold the large peices of glass so I had to pull them out while they were suctioned to the attachments. Good idea on the coathanger - my lense housing is dirty still.
