Stupid Addco...can't install RSB!!#!

I bought my ******* RSB from shox.com 8 days ago, it came (from the same state, which is weird because the receipt for the RSB came 2 days after I placed the order!) but once i tried putting the thing together I found out that the curved plates dont fit on the U-Bolts OR the ]-Bolts...basically, the holes are drilled too close together, and they are ALL DRILLED VERY BADDLY, they dont line up! 3 of the curved plates are SORT OF the same size, and one seems to be from a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT KIT!!! But surprisingly, thats the only plate that fits all the U and ]-Bolts!!
IM SO ****ING ****ED!! PIECE OF ****!@%$!

Now I dont know what to do, should I call shox.com or Addco??
What do I say? "you sent me the wrong hardware, gimme a new set for free"??? do I have to spend more cash? AAAAAARRRRGGGHH!

hey Mozy, I had the same problem with my bar... the ] brackets wouldn't fit in the holes they were supposed to, much less fit around the trailing arm to reach the brace. Also, the U brackets were waaay to long, they hung down like 3 inches below the bar...

I contacted addco from their website and they've emailed back saying that they are sending new mounting hardware. We'll see if that helps.

damn man, I know how you feel.

doesnt it suck though? I was SO happy when I got it and I was hoping to slap this sucker on and go racing this friday night to test it out. but JUST OUR FREAKING LUCK!

what the hell is happening? are the people at addco drunk or something? or do they just prefer sending out CORRECT mounting hardware at a later date?

Im SOOOOOOO ****ed.

Yeah, it sucks. I've been politely emailing them since November. Just 'splained my problem and they've been nice about it, just kinda slow. If it doesn't work out, I'll be calling Phuong and ordering a Stillen bar, and believe me, everyone here will know about it.

Re: Stupid Addco...can't install RSB!!#!

I got my RSB from custommaxima.com. It took me over an hour to install because I had to keep playing with the brackets to get them to line up with the bolts. I noticed they were REALLY tight and I almost took a dremel to them. I think I might have bent them a little as I was slamming the brackets against the floor out of frustration, that might've helped . I'd suggest trying to bend them a bit or even using a drill to shave the bracket holes a little. If they're completely f*cked up, then I'd pick up the phone first thing tomorrow and ***** my pretty little head off.

If shox.com is good about it, they should send you another one (most likely charging your cc again) and pay for the shipping to have the other one returned (at which point they reimburse your cc).

Good luck!

ADDCO solution

I realize that I didn't sell the bars to you gentlemen, but I deal with ADDCO regularly. They must have run into a kit assembly issue. Not like this has never happened but they've gotten a lot better at this over the last year after going through their ISO9000 certification process, and I'm surprised to see a streak like this.

Anyway, you are going to get the best results by far if you contact ADDCO directly. Tell them what parts are wrong and it can be helpful to provide measurements of what does or doesn't fit.

ADDCO is very good about addressing issues like this if the right person is there. They typically are, but there's a little trade show travel. Call Sim Greene at 800.338.7015 and if he's not in ask for Poncho. They will send the parts express if they need to.

ADDCO recently started using a slightly larger U-bolt and plate combination on the trailing arm brackets to "universalize" the part with the slightly wider gen5 trailing arms (after getting feedback that the ubolts were too narrow to go around some of the trailing arms). There may be some parts mixup around that change in mounting kit specs.

You'll get this straightened out and get the bar on, the ADDCO is a very basic bar, its a great deal, and it works very well -- as long as you don't run into the problems that you guys have. Good luck, ADDCO should take care of you.

BTW, hope you didn't pay too much for your bar! ;-) Mine are $119 in black powdercoat or zinc chromate plating, always stocked in my warehouse for immediate shipment.
