car broke down after a month later of a large repair [video inside of crank/no start]

a month ago or more I finished doing the rear timing cover o-ring & it was a success. Today I get a call from my sister saying the car broke down on the freeway. She said that she may have heard some noise coming from the engine and that she felt a loss of power..so she moved over to the shoulder and the car stalled out. Now its a crank no start & it sounds really strange cranking over. My guess it has something to do with the cam timing..but you guys are the experts so let me know what you think!

http://youtu.be/Z6rk3JgXDGo

oh also it may be irrelevant but the car was in a front end fender bender a week ago or less. The body looks straight for the most part but the core support and bumper beam got bent up. I doubt it's related since this sounds like an internal issue but I thought I should just mention.

Thanks

That's the sound of no compression. Houston, we have a timing problem.

do the injectors fire when you switch the key to on? is the engine itself turning over as in the belt is spinning?

Crank the car and have someone look at the belt that runs over the crank pulley, alt pulley and compressor pulley, is it turning while you are trying to start it?

I question if the starter gear is engaging the flywheel.

I also thought that it just sounded like the starter spinning nothing.

My biggest concern! If that is the case then we're probably talking a total tear down? Valves would be bent, correct? It was at freeway speeds.

I just confirmed that the crank pulley is turning.

is the starter isn't engaging the flywheel then the engine will not be turning, so you have to check if the belt turns when you crank the car

can anyone confirm that the crank sound is definitely from no compression?

I'll confirm it, but you can verify it really easy too. Is the crank turning?
A starter spinning alone (no flywheel engagement) doesn't sound anything like your video.
Think electric motor hum compared to your dry crank sound.

the crank does turn when you try to start it. All the pulleys turn. I'll probably test the compression when I get a chance.

Do you have access to a compression testing gauge? Some parts stores let you borrow one with a deposit. I would pull the spark plugs and run a wet compression test ASAP.

What's the verdict? My car made a sound like this before, turned out the cam sensor was unplugged.
