Broken Hood Latch

Hey guys. I read up on all the hood latch related threads but couldn't find the answer I needed. Basically my first latch broke so I went and replaced it with another. I put the other one in and closed the hood. I pull the latch and nothing happens so I pull the cable and I felt it slip off the actual assembly. So my question is how do I get my hood open now?

You should be able to access it through the grill.

Well there is some useful info if the actual cord was attached to the lever. I tried everything mentioned in that thread. How would I get the grill off with the hood closed without breaking anything?

Without is gonna be tricky. Its just little clips that hold it on. Should be easy to replace

2 people!!!! One pulling on hood handle in cabin! One lifting the hood with a screwdriver or plastic prybar!

Cmax. The latch in the cabin is broken. It will not pull the lever.

So once you get it open, are you thinking hood pins?

That's actually good. I thought the cable somehow detached itself from the actual hood latch mechanism under the hood based on your original post.

Can't you simply take the hood latch release lever out the equation and grab the cable with some vice grips and pull?

Now if the cable broke/isn't attached at the actual hood release mechanism, then I think you're screwed. I looked at my hood release today and came to the conclusion that the front grill has to be removed to gain access to the hood latch. If this is the case, gently pull on the grill until it's free. You'll break the snaps that hold it in place, but those can be replaced or it can be ziptied back on.

Zipties FTW haha that's what I'll have to do because the cable did slip off of the mechanism.
