roof replacement.

Most cars you take out front n back windows and take out the two black rain guard channels and go around n drill out spot welds. Any idea how ours comes off? I have an LKQ junk yard not far away. $50 for a roof with sunroof and the job would take care of my previous sins...that n front window is cracked anyway

Remove the front and rear glass. Cut both roofs off at the same location on both cars, just below the roof line on the pillars. Measure everything TWICE.
Weld it back together, grind, bondo, smooth, paint, replace glass.

It's not very difficult if you can cut and weld. The key is measuring it accurately.

EDIT: Leave the donor roof pillars about 1/4 inch longer so you can overlap them slightly. Then clamp them on first, measure and fit everything including the glass before you weld it in place.

I've seen this done before on older cars, but never on a Maxima. Looking forward to the job and pics.

Forget the sunroof and go for a hard top!

Make sure you weld all the layers in the center pillar and the front "A" pillar and not just the outer panels. I usually do 1/2" overlap on each layer and staggered welds between layers. Not a difficult job but a bit time consuming measuring and cutting everything just right.

As mentioned above, dry fit everything before welding to make sure your roof is perfect.

Good job and post a lot of pictures.

A maxima convertible? Sounds fun, I think for sure would be ooak. My brothers gonna be help in me out start to finish. He went to school for auto body worked at body shops works at Chrysler right now. And has his own shop on the side. I'm putting his shop name on the car for helping me out considering I'm taking the roof on everything else that it needs is minor. Fenders and lower front support. I'm planning on taking it on soon. Probably by the first big snow. My maxima is lowered 3 inches usually snows 12 in at a time here.
