Price to replace fender?

This is a bizarre incident that happened last night.

I was driving through a poorly lit parking lot that is notorious for having potholes, but usually just enough to bump you around and nothing more. I hit this HUGE ***** and my car sinks in and I drive out. I heard that plastic "SLAM", but I figured - Okay, so I hit the lip, no big deal.

No. I literally slammed my fender on the pothole and now it look like my passenger side is widebody

Thankfully it's black, but trust me you can tell I hit something.

So anyway, just bought a new fender for 50 bucks and it's not painted. I'd be stupid to waste $$$ on a painted fender when I repainted my car 2 years ago, and something tells me the paint would not match.

TL;DR - Hit a pothole, ruined fender. Rest of the car is fine. Bought a 50 dollar fender. How much will a shop charge to paint and replace a new fender?

Passenger side of the car was hit by someone in parking lot while the car was parked there few years ago, it was a quite big dent on the fender above the wheel well, I didn't bother to fix it until it started rusting, then I saw a Max in local junkyard with the same color as mine, so for $50 I got the fender, took me about 1 hour to get replace it, no need to paint.

OOOOH OOOOH

Got a front passenger fender in Sterling Mist? How about a bumper cover in real nice shape is Sterling Mist as well?

Both for a 99 (manufactured in January) Maxima SE Special Edition (titanium wheels and gauges and badges on the doors)

I live in Nassau County.

Thanks!

I never really understood the point of these threads. With a little common sense and calling 3 to 5 shops in your area to get price quotes, you should be able to choose wisely. Based on price and how they answer your questions, pick your shop.

Hi Wiz,

I know for me and maybe for some of the others, as these cars get mileage and age, keeping them in order is getting forced expensive. Something expensive just went (and it's never planned) and now something else expensive goes, and so on.

I think when we ask these questions it's about keeping the cost within respect to what we can sell the car for. It only takes a couple of major repairs and we've spent more (sometimes way more) than the car's worth.

I know I don't have the money to replace mine at an equivalent level or do I want to be in a position of payments. Catch 22 I guess. But I still hate investing huge money I'll never get back into keeping it reliable.

Maybe I'll just have to start selling my body to very rich women to be able to make payments! LOL

However, in this case, if he doesn't want to paint it himself, that really is the only answer other than buying used and painted. (I'm there) LOL

how many miles u got on ur max? No car payment= Saving up for repairs, sure sometimes u may spend $ on it, but thats the whole point keeping a car, and for every car.. besides you save money by keeping the car u have. Don't fall into the trap of what everyone else does. which is they sell it and get a used car that may have problems again or not.. or a new car that u lose so much money the instant u sign that paper and even $10k lost the first year owning it..worst financial thing anyone can do
Don't know how people are able to say ok to that but not to a car that needs $1k of work that'll last em a good while. big repairs are not often to come anyways..

Yeah... I never thought to call a shop...

It's the weekend, they're all closed on saturday, so I figured I'd ask someone who has had one replaced.

Thanks to the offer on the painted one, but since mine was repainted, I don't think it will be an exact match.

And, if my car dies and it's over... I just had it repainted and put a new transmission it in. At this point, do I buy the 2000 3.0 Maxima next door for 3,000 bucks or spend that on dumping a new engine into a car with a perfect body!?

Here is a picture. Ignore the shoddy job with the screw (Can't notice it in person at all). But notice how the lip is pushed out? It used to be completely flush.

that looks very minor to me... If the fender is damaged with no paint damage, maybe even paintless dent repair may repair it without messing up the paint. much cheaper than replacing a fender.

and besides if ur exterior is very good, why get rid of it.. its not gonna get any better. its like a new car if u say. then all you got to focus on is things that break, and thats just a normal habit of owning a car.

need more pictures on the angle.. i can see the fender kinda "bent" a little

Hard to tell, is it black or dark green? I painted half of my car last year (2 doors, both bumpers, both fenders) and you cannot tell at all. I just ordered urethane 2 stage black, didn't use the Nissan paint, just black. FYI if you are wanting to grab one from the junkyard. 17 years old, and the paint still matches new.

If only it was that easy. First a Maxima has to be there. Then, it has to be the right color. Then, no damage.

He's already got the fender.

I've done two 4th Gen Maximas with junkyard fenders that were the exact color, pinstripes and no damage....

Junkyard find: Driver's Fender (those aren't scratches just Lime stone slashes)
