Paint.

I just used high temp engine primer, paint and clear coat that you can pick up at any auto store. Worked great.

make sure u clean the calipers before spraying them.. get a nice wire brush or a dremmel tool with a wire brush piece and get all the dirt and rust off the caliper 1st. Then there is special paint for calipers sold.

He should start with aerosol brake cleaner 1st, actually, & scrub the caliper quickly with either a nylon bristle brush or small wire brush while it's still wet (dries quickly).

If there's still crud on them after this, I might do a dry run w/ the Dremel, but not before I got most of the brakedust off with the brake-cleaning fluid.

Brake dust isn't something you want to go out of your way to agitate & get airborne when it's dry. It's kinda tuff on the lungs. . .

(Btw, I'm one of the strongest Dremel advocates you'll find!)

Where to get a better variety of paint choices?

I've been to all the auto parts places, chains, etc. All they seem to have in high-heat caliper paint or engine enamel are the garden variety blah, blah, blah GM/Ford paints, which would be fine if I was painting a Chevette or a Pinto, but I'm looking for something a little more interesting, personally.

Anyone know any good sources online or elsewhere to get a better variety of high-heat paints? Ideally, I'm looking for a metallic royal blue or something like that.

Any leads appreciated. . .

FoliaTec caliper paint kit comes with paint, thinner and brake cleaner. Great quality paint.
