How to adjust idle with a broken tach.

Just like the title says, I replaced a bunch of componetes and cleaned the TB and ICAV but now I need to know the procedure for adjusting the idle with a broken tach. Thanks

OBDII scanner that can give you live data readings should show RPM

1) Fix Tach
2) Scanner
3) Oscylloscope on the injector pulse, read the time scale, do math.
4) Listen, when it sounds good, it's set.

Pick wisely.

my timing gun/light has a rpm function, so if you have a timing light that can read rpm use that.

Gah! You guys are making me feel so stupid for not bringing things like the scanner and the light! I guess I'll just go with setting it by ear for now.......what's the worst that can happen right?

Ah screw it, I just went and bought the best code reader advance auto had. I guess I'll just add it to the travel box after I'm done using it for data readings....better than having to guess what RPM I'm setting things to.

Adjustment was mostly successful, idle screw backed all the way out gave me around 620 rpm. Tad low but good enough for now.
