This Is loose but don't know what it is?

Hey guys I got my car lowered 2 days ago and I have something loose on the passenger side pretty much on the very front, Labeled as "R" and the "L" on the driver side is not loose, The "R" seems to lost its screw... lucky it doesn't scrape the ground even lowered.. and that wet stain on the ground is just A/C condensation from my A/C cause its always hot here in texas now. It has no leaks at all, 135k miles at the moment. No Check engine light, runs like a dream.

What is this loose part? where can I get it done, can it be screwed back up? I tried pushing it back up but it felt heavy! didn't want to break anything. Its been like this for over a year im quite positive. nothing really happened

its just a splash shield, R and L are designation for which side it belongs to. cut a hole in it and secure it to the subframe or whatever with a zip tie

The black part is just your splash shield. It helps protect the lower part of the engine from road debris etc. Mine came completely off . There are supposed to be plastic clips holding it into place. If you ever need to replace them, you can order new shields from nissan, but I'm pretty sure you can also find them on partstrain.com

oh haha good thing its just a splash shield, nothing too serious right? I could just have them drill a small hole in the corner, and zip tie it back up.

What happens if it were to come off completely? since im lowered i am careful of potholes(even though theres not many here) and things that could potentially hit the splash shield. but I have drove around for a good amount of time and it doesn't seem to really hit the ground that much.

yes, nothing serious at all. just to keep debris and water out of there, you can remove it completely and it wouldnt really matter. but it would take you literally 2 minutes to cut a small hole in the back of it and zip tie it to the subframe

Either drill a hole and ziptie as Chrome pointed out or just remove it. On some of my Maximas, I have all the splash shields removed. But first get under there and look to see if one bolt is missing that would secure it.

ah cool, just something that just questioned me a bit and couldn't figure out what it was by searching. I'll probably just drill a hole in it and zip tie it really tight to subframe.

I understand its to keep water and debris out of there but whats the worse it could do if it wasn't there? I'm not saying im gonna take it off completely, im gonna put it back in place, just curious. Things I like to question about. Pretty much pro's and cons.

The good old plastic splash shield that guards the ac condensor and the bottom part of the car. If you want you can get new ones from the dealer or the good ones good ones from the jy.

Funny..mine looks bent in the same exact way as yours. Mine is zip tied for the most part all the way around but I couldn't find a good spot to zip tie at that corner...maybe I just need to use a really long tip tie there to somewhere. Never minded a small part of it hanging down.

All engine splash shields are mounted with nuts and bolts. When first removing those shields over a decade ago those rusted pieces crumbled away. I replaced them with nylon nuts, bolts, and washers back then and they're still doing their job. Besides never rusting another positive aspect is they only require hand tightening and have never loosened.
