It'll be 113 today. The vent was blowing good through main vents which goes directly to your face. If I touch mode button sometimes it'll close and stay stuck there no matter what mode I choose and only blow air as a defrost or blow through where legs are. If I try to switch it it won't work and only opens main vents when it wants to. So when that happens I don't touch it. But this time I did because sometimes I like a different setting and that messed it up again. Why the hell did they make it electronic for? Big problem

It's a 98 with climate control. The vent opened this morning and I wanted to switch so it could blow bottom and top so I won't freeze at 430am because it was only 86 out, thenot it seized on me and is only blowing to windshield and side window mode. No matter how many times I push mode it doesn't open the vents. I can try to manually open them but I need to locate front face vent. It did this to me last time but luckily it opened in an hour. Also it does switch modes but doesn't open the vents for that mode, so button does work

I did look at fsm and diagnosed it. Gave me reading of 31 32 34 35 36. Means that the mode door motor harness is disconnected. Where can I find this component at to reconnect?
I doubt if the harness is disconnected because you do get some movement of the diverter door inside the duct. Probably the motor is dying. The service manual should have a diagnostic procedure to test the motor.
Look up behind the center console from the driver's foot well.

I see that one and took it out. But how does that one control the face one too? When I force open the duct it blows through bottom and doesn't open the face vents. Unless there's another motor? Well I'm gonna try and test it with volt thing

Never mind. I found out that the lever can be pushed more into another position. I'll keep the vent stuck open till I get a new motor. Thanks
