yes I have seen this doc, I tested the solenoid manually and it seems to be working

I think there is a short of some sort, haven't been able to pin point that.

Manifold Absolute Pressure Switch Solenoid Valve harness is open or shorted

So if you have any idea where can I check or try I am ready for it.

Are you certain that you tested the correct one? That same exact solenoid is used in about a half dozen places, so you can swap it with any of the others.

Dennis...funny u show that pic...my 99 se doesn't have the cannister solenoid...which I found strange cause all the other max's I've seen 98 and below have it

The photo is of my 97 Cali emissions car. I should have stated that when I posted the photo.

Each year of the 4th gen is different because of the pollution laws changing during the production run, but the 99 is quite a bit different. The Fed spec and Cali cars are vastly different for the 95/96, but begin to get closer together starting in 97, but still a lot of differences. The 99 and 2000 are bastards for their generations, especially on electrical.

I'm not 100% certain about what happened to the EVAP canister solenoid on your car. The 99 has a swirl control valve that was not on the previous years, so I guess that replaced the EVAP canister valve. If you go to page 14 of the EC section of the 99 FSM, there is a drawing pointing out the locations of different pieces on the engine.

The op didn't tell us what year or type of pollution standards his car was, so he is going to have a hard time getting accurate answers until he learns to do this.

Yes I think so the two are next to each other on my car one has black connector and this MAP/BARO is Brown . I recently swapped the Orange one. That was dead, I pulled it off the car and tested with 12v and its clicking fine. I just don't want to buy another and code doesn't go away I read about this on the net with many people same issue, even after the swap the code didn't go away some one mentioned about some ground wire or something.

I've had these (definitely both the map/baro and the evap and maybe the egrc one also) test "good" while on the car, but they were only working intermittently (or worked only after getting jostled around before testing them) and would stop working again after a short while and throw the code again. after I replaced them, no codes since!

I just replaced my map/baro solenoid last week....replaced all vacuum lines going to it as well...all 5/32 BTW...only code left is the knock sensor which is on the way...not bad for a car with 438,000 miles...oh yea...check the vacuum lines for cracks or splitting

Dennis I went and looked at a another 99 se-l ....looked under the hood...it has the same two solenoids as your pic does....the build date on my car is 1/99...the one I looked at today has a build date of 3/99...its just weird my car doesn't have it...but the exact same car built 2 months later does...I'm stumped

Is it possible you can get me the part # for MAP/Baro Solenoid .
Also I have two other codes P0325 and P1447 any idea on these two.

Solenoid Valve Assy - Part # 14956-35U10

P0325 is the knock sensor. This code likes to piggy-back just about every other code and 99% of the time it is a false code. For right now, ignore it and fix the other problems. If it doesn't go away, then replace the knock sensor.

P1447 can be caused by a dozen or more things. The most common are a loose or bad gas cap and the EVAP canister vent control valve. The EVAP canister vent control valve is bolted on the EVAP charcoal canister that is behind the left rear wheel. The section for code P1447 starts on page and how to test this valve is on page 398 in the link below.

I agree - it is strange. I don't why that is. Could one car be Cali emissions and the other fed? I thought they were the same but who knows.

Ok so I looked up some info...what I saw was the solenoid beside the map baro solenoid on the 99 is the swirl control valve solenoid and the swirl valve is almost directly above it...my 99 built 1/99 does not have a swirl valve and is a fed spec car...so I'm going to assume the one with it built 3/99 is a Cali spec...my car must have not been built with it because I have no code saying its not working....I looked up the code for the swirl valve solenoid its p1135...but assuming as we all know is usually the wrong way to go....

Did u clear the code and it came back? Or wait for it to clear itself?

I did clear code many times , check all fuses. One thing I don't understand once I clear the code and scan again I see 1105 as pending code.
ok I clear code, startup drive for couple of miles, turn off and start again ECL pops up, once I scan I see 1105 and 1105p

Ok so what I've found is that the pending 1105 means the obd2 monitoring system failed the operation of an emission control system at least once...the actual code means it failed more than once causing the CEL...also the voltage to the solenoid can be too high or too low...

I would check the voltage on the connector..not sure exactly how to do that...maybe someone else could chime in on that part

follow through the procedure outlines in the fsm for troubleshooting code p1105; go step by step and you'll eventually find the problem. for the 96, it starts on page EC265 and runs 6 pages.
