OBD2 code questions, answers not found.

I posted this in the newbie area until I found this thread - good! I have 2 codes on a 2007 Maxima SL I just bought with 157k miles(no warranty left). I'm getting a P0845 for the primary trans fluid pressure sensor AND P0455 for EVAP Emission System Large Leak Detected. I've seen elsewhere that the latter may be from a faulty gas cap so I'm looking for advice on the trans sensor question. Will this be something I can have done when I change my fluid or is it more involved than drain, drop pan, R&R sensor, clean and reinstall pan, refill? I was going to have fresh fluid put in the trans anyways. Thanks!

The P0845 is most likely the pressure sensor itself. See page 137 in the service manual for more info.

the P0455 could be the gas cap but it could also be the EVAP Canister Purge Volume Control Solenoid Valve.

See page 444

Thanks for the quick response. I thought that's what they were so I brought the car to the local Nissan dealer to see about having the system flushed and the new sensor installed. After the initial inspection I was handed a $10,000 estimate for R&R on the transmission(overfilled by 2 quarts and burned), leaking power steering, all motor mounts rotted, and front end in bad shape. Those are just the big things! I called the dealer and he wants to make it right so he's letting me get another car. It looks like it's going to be another Galant for me, but newer. No more CVT cars for me, ever!!!!

If the Galant proves to be in good order I will give him a good review. His shop is not set up for heavy mechanics, just light so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

That Maxima must be in pretty bad shape. It sounds like a $500 fixer-upper.
