Question on how to remove defrost vents

How do I remove the defrost vents on the dash? Are there any little clips inside them or something like that?

Many of us have tried poppin them off. They are physically attached to the dash board. Unless you want to tear apart the dash to get to them, it isn't worth the time.

One of the explodes views of the dash in my Chilton manual shows no screws or anything (just a couple underneath for the dash) if that helps at all.

So that probably means they are snapped in or held on with tangs then? Anyone else agree? I am going to go after them with renewed vigor tonight because the damn things rattle so much that it messes with my head, its the only fault (as far as I am concerned) with the car at all. BTW, just won some PIAA 9004 superwhites on ebay to put in it based on the rec's from this forum.
