Thermostat fail open?

Does the thermostat on the VQ30DE fail open or closed?

By default, it's closed. So a bad thermo would fail to open.

Thanks Wizard. I thought so, but just checking. I know they make some fail open thermostats so the car won't overheat.

So our thermostats can't fail open too?? (eg not close up after the car cools down after a drive)

I suppose it is possible, although it is usually unlikely considering in order for it to function properly it needs to open and if it can open properly, it will close properly
