1995 Nissan Maxima keyless entry not working

Need some adult supervision. Long story long (sorry) grandson's power antenna went bad - so I bought an aftermarket antenna. Stripped back the insulation on connector in trunk to see if I could get power to the new antenna. It moved about a 1/4 inch then stopped. Coincidentally, his keyless fob stopped working. I presume I blew a fuse, but have no idea what to look for or where. I've read fuse # 40 (7.5 amp) might be the culprit - Is there any other thing I should look at? P.S. The connector for the antenna I cut off - so the wires are wrapped with electrical tape - not sure if that might adversely affect it. Thanks for your patience and guidance.

The control box for the remote is in the trunk near the power antenna, just forward of the opening you look through to see the antenna. One thing that could possibly affect the remote is that the control box connects to the antenna in the rear windshield. So does the power antenna in the fender. If you have the antenna wire to the power antenna shorted, this could be the problem.

Thanks so much for your replies. As it turns out, when I changed fuse # 40 that fixed the problem. Regarding the power antenna, any idea what wires to connect to where on an after market antenna - colors don't match (go figure)?

In the Nissan wire harness:
pink is 12 volts (from fuse # 40).
black with red stripe is trigger to raise/lower antenna.
solid black is chassis ground.

Similar problem when I took out the antenna motor, suddenly it knocked out the remote control, security red light by steering wheel, keys in ignition warming, 2 visor lamps. When I replaced the 7.5A fuse in position 40, it fixed everything but the remote. It turns out that you need to reprogram the remote, which I did, and now all the electronics working again.
