Maybe someone who has a wiring diagram and knows how to read it can solve this puzzle.

Here are the facts. I have a '99 Max SE 5 speed that had been in a major wreck which set off both air bags (I knew this before I bought it). the car has been fixed and repainted. The front power windows work normally. The rear power windows only work by using the drivers master control switch on the rear passenger position. Using this switch causes BOTH rear windows to SIMULTANEOUSLY operate. The master control rear drivers side switch does nothing. Engaging the lock button stops the front passenger window from working from the front passenger button and also stops the main control button from operating the rear windows. Neither rear passenger button operates any window regardless of position of the master control lock button. When the door panels were removed there was no apparent broken wires or disconnected switches.

What is wrong and how do I fix it?

 

Guess the dealer may need to solve this puzzle. Lots of members looked at this puzzle but not one attempt at an answer.

 

micro-processor controlled in the actual switch assembly. My guess is that the chip went bad in the accident and you'll probably have to replace the whole assembly. Try a salvage yard, because it will probably be expen$ive from Nissan.

Sounds like a good answer to me. I'll try to locate the switch in a salvage yard, do a swap while at the salvage yard, and see if that solves the problem.

actually if you verify pin 4 of the driver side circuit board, you'll notice it will output probably around 4 volts. You need to short pins 7 and 12. this will cause a reset to occur in your system. As Such, pin 4 will then output the correct 12 volts. These 12 volts will then be passed through to the other switches.

uhm salvage yard i'd say is the best bet. I screwed up my driver side driver drivers window switch... can't put down my driver side window anymore... I'll probably have to get a whole new driver side switch assembly type thing booo

 

Went to the salvage yard and did part swapping. When I swapped out the drivers master control switch assembly nothing chaged with the operation of the windows. The owner of the yard suggested I swap out the individual switches. When I swapped out the individual switch for the back driver's side window all the windows worked correctly!!!

No cost for the switches I tried that did not fix the problem. I just put those back in the wrecked Max. $25 for the rear back driver's side that I took and used to fix the problem.
