Name Some Trouble-Free TPS Brands

A couple of months ago I purchased a Duralast TPS from Autozone.

It's actually a Wells part and made in the US.

Based on the fact that my OE TPS hasn't completely failed I simply readjusted it and postponed installation of the new unit until this past weekend.

The new part was completely non-operational right out of the friggin box ... dead ... meaning no resistance and any position ... a completely open switch.

Has anyone installed a replacement TPS that's proven to be non-problematic?

If so, what brand is it?

Oem original Tps sensors rarely fail. I have seen them last well beyond 250,000 miles. If your original wasn't bad you shouldn't have replaced it. Oem sensors are the only ones that work on the car.

Maybe so but I've got a noticeable "dead" or "weak" spot in it's range of operation.

The OE is back in at the moment but it's gonna get replaced on accounta my glitch in off-idle acceleration is making me nuts.

Oem sensors are the only ones that work on the car.
So I'm hearing your recommendation to be a genuine Nissan replacement part?

New OEM TPS - from Order Infiniti Parts at $99.46

http://www.orderinfinitiparts.com/pa...&siteid=215003

SMP Intermotor -- Advance Auto using TRT30 discount code is $78.39 -- list is $111.99.

I only have a couple of non Intermotor sensors remaining on my 99 Max.
Most of the OEM sensors were replaced a couple of years ago with Intermotor.

An SMP Intermotor at Rock Auto is $84.79 plus shipping.

Rock Auto is the best place to get it. Hitachi and Beck/Arnley are good sensors, reboxed OE parts. Made in Japan.

OE TPS sensors fail all the time, and Nissan has released a few TSB's on it. Also, 5th gen TPS's have failed out of the box when brand new.

My original one lasted 267,000 miles. It wasnt even bad and I just replaced because of a low idle problem which was caused by a dirty throttle body and not the tps. Maybe not all of them last that long.

I have a couple OEM ones from various wrecked maximas/blown engines if you're interested. Never noticed any issues with them.
