Brad Penn Gear Oil?

I am going to be replacing the gear oil in my manual tranny, last time I used Redline MT-90, and had no complaints about it, except the $17 per quart price tag.

So in poking around for GL4 gear oils I came across Brad Penn 80W-90 GL4 Gear Lube which is the exact spec our car requires (it even mentions "suitable for Nissan cars") and furthermore $5.50 per quart. It is dino oil, but seems to have a pretty good reputation.

Unless anyone has a credible horror story or word to the wise I am probably going to give it a shot- anyone know if the factory Nissan stuff was synthetic or dino?

Well I went ahead and bought me a case and poured it into my car, there is more than one online retailer that sells this stuff.

Just from driving it around I can't tell a difference between this and the RedLine- will it do as well in the winter? will it last as long? These are questions I don't know the answer to, but at 1/3 the price of the RedLine I can change it yearly without breaking a sweat and I won't have a cow every time a couple of tablespoons spill on the garage floor.

Plus it is a pretty green color!

Sounds like a great deal Like you said, in winter you might notice a difference between it and MT-90. No biggie. Whenever I changed my OEM to MT90, it felt like I was switching from dino to synthetic. Gearbox felt much more slick.
